For one night only the inimitable Boys Noize and his Boysnoize records crew take over the Warehouse Project. As well as his labelmates Housemeister, Stripsteve, Manchester’s own Shadow Dancer and djedjotronic, he is joined by UK heavyweight Fake Blood. Fellow Berlin resident and Ed Banger stalwart Feadz will be  coming by to deliver one of his famously intense sets, as will revered German duo Smith n Hack.

The releases and artists on BNR are spread across the house, electro and techno spectrum, but they all share the same energy and high levels of quality that have come to be associated with label boss Alex Ridha, and the imprin t has become one of the most highly respected around. Their parties around Europe have become the stuff of legend,  and their trip to Manchester promises to be no different.

• Boys Noize

  • Born in Hamburg, Alex Ridha began producing at the precocious age of 16 with his longtime friend Andreas Meid, more commonly known as D.I.M.. Moving to Berlin aged 21, he started releasing tracks on labels such as Turbo, Kitsuné, International Deejay Gigolo and his own Boysnoize imprint. The sheer intensity of early tracks such as & Down, Feel Good (TV=Off) and Lava Lava placed him miles above his peers, getting regular airings by the likes of Erol Alkan, Justice and Tiga. Debut album Oi Oi Oi was a huge success, as were his massive remixes for the likes of Feist, Tiga and Bloc Party. Since then he has expanded the roster on his label, recorded mixes for Bugged Out!, I love Techno and Mixmag, as well as releasing his second album Power last year and collaborating with Erol on his Phantasy Sound label.
     
• Fake Blood

  • A series of remixes appeared in 2007 by a mysterious faceless artist called Fake Blood that had everyone talking about and guessing the identity of this talented newcomer. The hype reached fever pitch when his debut single, Mars, became one of the biggest dance anthems of the latter half of the decade, a seemingly unstoppable mix of fidget, rave, techno and old piano house. He has since been unveiled as Theo Keating, also known as DJ Touché, but his massive remixes for the likes of Underworld, UNKLE, Armand Van Helden and The Kills amongst others have ensured he is still highly talked of today. Last year’s huge disco- tinged I Think I Like It proved he was no one hit wonder, getting played by DJs across many scenes, and his essential mix for Radio 1 last year was a masterclass in eclecticism, taking in disco, techno, house, hip hop, electro and more.
     
• Housemeister

  • Growing up in Berlin in the 90s, Martin Böhm aka Housemeister was exposed early on to the thriving underground rave and squat party scene in the city. He spent every weekend Djing at various clubs and after parties around the capital, and in 1999 became a member of Ellen Allien’s legendary BPitch Control collective, releasing four EPs on the label.  A longtime friend of the label boss, he released his debut album Enlarge Your Dose on Boysnoize records, as well as the Beef Jerky EP last year. He runs his own All You Can Beat label, releasing tracks in between his numerous DJ sets around Europe.

     
• Smith n Hack

  • Smith n Hack are a Berlin based duo comprised of Erik Wiegand and Frank Timm, who are both also known as solo acts in their own right; Errorsmith and Soundhack respectively. Coming to people’s attention with their debut LP Tributes in 2002, they were personally handpicked to remix singles by Ricardo Villalobos and Matthew Herbert. It was their unhinged, brass-led reworking of Herbert’s Moving Like A Train and italo influenced remix of Villalobos classic Easy Lee that marked them out as standing head and shoulders above their peers. Their 2007 single Space Warrior and its melancholy b-side Falling Stars cemented their name as two of the most original talents to come from Berlin in recent years.
     
• DJ Feadz [ Ed Banger ]

  • Ed Banger stalwart Feadz, born Fabien Pianta, has been making music since the early 90s. He collaborated with Mr. Oizo on his groundbreaking Analog Worms Attack album in 1999, before being signed to Ellen Allien’s legendary Berlin imprint BPitch Control, releasing 4 Eps showcasing his hybrid style of techno, hip hop, ghetto bass and glitchy electronica. Feadz began producing for his then girlfriend Uffie with Mr. Oizo, including her debut singles Pop The Glock and Ready To Uff. The three artsists all later signed with Busy P’s Ed Banger records, and Feadz released two EPs on the French label as well as several notable contributions to their compilations. He recently worked with Uffie on her debut album released this year Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans.
     
• Shadow Dancer

  • Manchester duo Shadow Dancer comprises of two brothers, Alan and Paul Farrier. Blasting onto the scene with their debut single Dirt Box, their eponymous EP on Boysnoize records in 2007 won them fans such as Mr. Oizo, Erol Alkan and 2manyDJs. Since then they have released two further singles on Boysnoize and their debut album, Golden Traxe came out on the label last year. As well as Boys Noize himself they have remixed acts such as and Chromeo, Zombie Nation and many others, and taken their dynamic, beat-driven sound across Europe.
     
• Stripsteve

  • One of the youngest talents on the house scene, French wonderkid Théo Pozoga has only been releasing his own brand of turbo charged French house under the name Stripsteve for a few years, but has already become a firm favourite amongst DJs such as Armand Van Helden, Mylo, and of course Boys Noize who snapped him up to his label almost immediately. His filtered disco samples and relentlessly hypnotic bass lines were both exemplified perfectly on his Skip School and Delta Disco Eps for BNR, his style often being described as a more modern take on the French touch sound of pioneers such as Thomas Bangalter, Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon. 
     
• djedjotronic

  • Parisian Jérémy Cottereau began producing under his djedjotronic  guise with the guidance of his longtime friend and cohort Popof, after being inspired by releases on seminal labels such as Warp and Underground Resistance. His debut EP for Boysnoize records in 2009, Dirty and Hard, containing huge hits Gum Attack and Horror Klub, found a place in the boxes of such diverse DJs as Riton, Busy P, Etienne De Crecy, Proxy and Laurent Garnier. Since then he has remixed the likes of UNKLE, Tiga and Das Pop, with his self-described “electronic bitchy dance” style.
     
• Andro

  • A longtime resident of The Warehouse Project and one half of highly respected electronica duo Andro + Dimit, Belfast’s Andro was one of the founding members of legendary Manchester night Naive Melody. Bringing huge guests to the city such as Carl Craig, Superpitcher, Michael Mayer, Daniel Wang I-F, Smith n Hack and Aeroplane to name just a handful, Andro quickly established himself as one of the city’s brightest young up and coming DJs, his sets mixing old classics and vintage electronica with newer techno from the likes of Marcel Dettmann and Surgeon.

    Joining the WHP as a resident three years ago, he has since played with the likes of Theo Parrish, Slam,Steve Bug, Green Velvet and many others.
