For a unique one off event, Danish star Trentemöller will be bringing his incredible new live show to Manchester for one night at Academy 2. His latest album Into The Great Wide Yonder is one of his most accomplished and cohesive works to date, bringing in a wider scope of live instrumentation and dark atmospherics, recalling the expansive film scores of Angelo Badalamenti and Ennio Morricone. Although originally making a name for himself with his huge remix work for the likes of Royksopp, Booka Shade, Moby and Depeche Mode, his live shows have become renowned for their scope, seamlessly integrating electronic programming and improvisation with live instruments and singers , effortlessly flowing from juddering, bass-driven techno to melodic ambient compositions. He will be joined onstage by a full backing band and several vocalists from the album. The concert is part of a huge worldwide tour that takes in Europe, America, Australia and Asia, a testament to his huge popularity as an international artist.

  • Born in Copenhagen, Anders Trentemöller’s first releases on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat label in 2005 marked him out as a fresh talent, combining atmospheric analogue synths with epic minimal house and precise techno production. Further successful releases on the label were followed by a debut  album, The Last Resort, which was a huge success both critically and commercially. His Essential Mix for Radio 1 that year, which included many of his own productions and remixes of Moby and The Knife, was voted the year’s best by listeners of the show. Huge remix commissions followed from the likes of Depeche Mode, Royksopp, Franz Ferdinand and Booka Shade, the results of which established him as one of most accomplished and in demand remixers working today,known for his Midas-like ability to transform the most simple track into an expansive anthem.

    He has toured around Europe with his full live show, playing festivals such as Glastonbury and Melt, and last year even headlined the huge Roskilde festival in his native Denmark, playing to over 50,000 people. His follow up album Into Great Wide Yonder was released in June this year to huge critical acclaim, the likes of the NME, Mixmag and Dazed and Confused praising its musical scope and cohesive mood, and a worldwide tour complete with a full band is planned over the next twelve months.
