PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Platt Fields is very well served by public transport. On the east side of the park is Wilmslow Road, said by some to be the busiest bus route in Europe! Many services go from the Piccadilly Garden bus station to parts of Manchester south of the park, and stop by the park. These include the following services:

42 [ MANCHESTER - RUSHOLME - EAST DIDSBURY - STOCKPORT ]
43 [ MANCHESTER - DIDSBURY - WYTHENSHAWE - MANCHESTER AIRPORT ]
44 [ MANCHESTER - GATLEY ]
46 & 47 [ MANCHESTER - RUSHOLME - CHORLTON ]
48 [ MANCHESTER - WITHINGTON - NORTHENDEN ]
140 [ MANCHESTER - RUSHOLME - WEST DIDSBURY ]
141 [ WILBRAHAM ROAD - WILMSLOW ROAD - MANCHESTER ]
142 [ MANCHESTER - UNIVERSITY - EAST DIDSBURY ]
143 [ MANCHESTER - UNIVERSITY - RUSHOLME - WEST DIDSBURY ]

[ We did say there were a lot of buses! ]

On the west side of the park the 111 service stops on Yew Tree Road, on its way from Piccadilly Gardens to Southern Cemetery [ via West Didsbury ] and back again.

If travelling into Manchester by train, you can catch any of these buses from Oxford Road just outside Oxford Road Station, or from Piccadilly Gardens, a short walk from Piccadilly Station.

The excellent Greater Manchester Public Transport [ GMPTE ] website contains a route planner, to find your way from anywhere in Manchester, as well as downloadable timetable leaflets.
